MELINDA is a unique young budding artist who has a style of her own.
Even at the young age of around two years she was spotted dabbing with paints and drawing small animal/ abstract
motifs in any tiny bit of paper she came across.
Born in Tirunelveli in South Tamilnadu, she presently resides in Coimbatore.
She boasts of an artistic lineage. She had participated in many painting competitions and won accolades in her school years. Melinda was discovered at an early age, as early as about two years old. She was seen drawing tiny bird and flower pictures on newspaper borders using pencils or broken crayons.
Elders in the family saw a great artist in the tiny tot then. The schooling at TEA Public School, Tirupur gave her the fertile ground to stay in touch with painting and drawing during her blossoming formative years. She participated in many drawing competitions and won accolades. She improved her painting skills as she continued her studies at Vidhya Niketan School, Coimbatore. She began oil-painting at the age of twelve. From her early teen days, Women Empowerment has become the motto for her painting stint. Every inch of her bubbles with this energiser.
Some of her creations amply bear testimony to this topical social concept and some of her works enriching the cultural life of India. Her vivid imagination, her realistic drawings undoubtedly would impress everybody. Once she gets into painting she is so much engrossed in it that she literally plunges into the world of colours, who thinks in terms of colours and designs only. She is a self-taught artist who attended painting summer camps and have taken guidance from her art gurus including Mrs. Lucas Mary a Teacher at Kalaimagal Kalvi Nilayam, Erode and Mr. Raviraj of Lalit Kalakshetra, Coimbatore.
Melinda now 18 years old and continues to express herself through paintings in a more subtle way. She has spent hundreds of hours in front of her easel, working into details of paintings, colour after colour. layer after layer and sometimes would spend several weeks to finish a single painting. She is versatile in her painting styles. She chooses her subjects from varied topics. Landscapes, abstract, still life and portraits are equally handled by her diligently.
A craving for the fine arts was always behind her. Melinda has accomplished her 6th Grade in Piano at the Trinity College of Music, London and is now vigorously pursuing the 8th Grade in Piano.
She spends her leisure playing piano, fashion designing and watching TV. She continues to paint and is in the process of setting up her own art studio. "Broken crayons still colour" is one of her inspirational quotes. She is planning to conduct many solo exhibitions of her paintings in the days to come in various cities like chennai, India and Zurich, Swiss. 1000 paintings in the kitty before the 25th birthday is her immediate mission.
